I couldn't understand why so many of the series' fans didn't like Second (and still don't).

Unique for its time. Frustrating at points.

Experiencing Valkyrie Profile: SO that's where Odin Sphere got its inspiration.
I can't think of another game on PSX or PS2 that was more hyped (by fans) than Valkyrie Profile, except maybe Legend of Dragoon.

I didn't play it the first time until well after it had been out for a while.

I originally skipped the entire Xenosaga trilogy.
